What is Heel Spur & Plantar Fasciitis: Causes, Symptoms, Treatments
We take heel pain lightly when we are young. Sometimes those heels or narrow footwear are just worth the pain as they make you look good but in the longer run, this pain can cause you; Heel spur or Plantar Fasciitis.
The inflammation of the thick tissue that runs across the bottom of your feet is connected to the toe which is called the plantar fascia. Pain in this tissue is called Plantar Fasciitis. This pain is so severe sometimes that you can’t stand for even 30 minutes. Heel spur on the other hand is a calcium deposit causing a bony protrusion on the underside of the heel bone. The pain from Heel spur is very severe.

- Giving stress on the heel bone
- Running on the hard surface
- Excessive weight or obesity
- Not wearing the right footwear or insoles
- Diabetes
- Having flat feet or high arch
Plantar Fasciitis, can be corrected by wearing well-cushioned footwear with arch support. A heel spur can be corrected by customized insole or footwear. Wearing the right footwear is very important. Consult your orthotist to know about the right footwear for your feet.
